Beautiful Ohio Woodland Wedding
Sarah and Kyle
A Wedding in the Woods
I met sweet Sarah quite a while back when we first began planning her stationery suite over coffee in a local Panera. I was immediately drawn to her beautiful soul, her soft vision for her nuptials and for the love in her heart she had for her fiance, Kyle. The plans we discussed matched taht vision to perfection. We chatted about soft colors-blushes, sands and other natural and neutral colors. We chatted about the gorgeous material she had selected for her bridesmaids to wear. We worked on plans for a sweet save the date and a lovely invitation suite. We talked about an event that would be filled with true, authentic and beautiful love.
And then covid hit. Major thumbs down.
But as did many brides and grooms, Sarah and Kyle decided that covid would not take anything away from their love story. Instead of celebrating in a large venue with lots of friends and family, Sarah and Kyle took advantage of one of those rare and beautiful Ohio Spring days--the ones where the sun warms the ground enough to walk barefoot and you can feel summer poking her head in to say hello and remind you that she will be here soon. This amazing couple took a few family members, their gorgeous wedding attire, and a beyond perfect bouquet to The Ledges in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and tied the knot with the sun shining and love in the air. Their perfect beginning started long before this small and intimate wedding ceremony, but this day helped them to begin a new chapter of their life together.
Sarah and Kyle: The Beautiful Couple
Sarah studied to become a physical therapist at The Ohio State University (Can I get an OH!?). Living with her friend Eryn led to meeting Eryn’s brother, Kyle when he came to visit one weekend. Right from the start Sarah and Kyle both knew there was something special about the other. Luckily, Eryn gave her permission for them to date and the rest is history! When I asked Sarah about their time together, she shared that their favorite dates include dancing (Kyle is teaching her a modern form of swing dancing), hiking, movie nights in, making wedding planning fun, trying new breweries, and visiting with family.
Sarah and Kyle’s Custom Hand Lettered Save the Dates
I loved the vision Sarah had for her custom wedding stationery suite. She had a really lovely goal of utilizing soft spring tones that truly felt like an Ohio Spring wedding. We decided that her save the dates would feature one of the engagement photos she and Kyle had taken together as well as some custom hand lettering. I loved that we selected a soft textured card stock for her save the dates which ended up feeling really natural and elegant but seriously down to earth. We also thought that Sarah’s save the dates would be the perfect first place to introduce bits of her color palette and rather than sending them in a boring white envelope, we went with a perfect spring pink! What an awesome pop of color her guests received in their mailboxes!
Sarah and Kyle’s Custom Watercolor Wedding Invitation Suite
As we continued on this stationery journey, Sarah and I discussed lots of ideas for the look and feel of their invitation suite. We knew that the overall suite needed to have a natural and close to nature feel while also utilizing all of those soft spring colors that she planned to use in her wedding bouquet and ceremony and reception decor. I also knew at this point that Sarah was drawn to invitations that incorporated circular wreaths in the artwork--a trend that I think is really lovely on wedding invitations. These planning conversations and my pinterest research led to a look book creation that incorporated antique silvers, tarnished from time, sandy mauves, italian ruscus, elegant shades of rose and images of gorgeous florals, strung from sturdy branches. The vision we developed for this suite felt so natural and also had a beautiful, romantic antique sort of flair. To be honest I was completely obsessed--the inspiration photos felt so perfect and unique. See a few of them just below!
From here I knew we would have a gorgeous suite by incorporating lots of soft blushes and beautiful garden roses into the design. I knew we would want to keep the trendy and beautiful pink envelopes as a signature element of the stationery suite as well. It was honestly just so much fun to see how this suite came together. I think it is so perfectly Spring. It encompasses that light and airy feeling and what more could you possibly want from an invitation to a wedding ceremony that exhibits those same exact vibes
I also am completely obsessed with the decision for the back of Sarah’s main invitation piece. The pretty pink watercolor flowers dropped perfectly onto greenery are the epitome of sweet and flirty and made the back of this stationery suite completely unique.
I absolutely loved working with Sarah to design this custom stationery and I couldn’t be more excited to share these pictures from their amazing wedding day. Brides and grooms like this couple make this job the most amazing thing on earth. Congratulations to you both!
